The annual VPSC v Doveton Special Soccer School match was played in beautiful conditions on the main pitch at Waratah Reserve. After losing EVERY one of these games since 2001, VPSC were in the mood to finally break their luck and put a strong side. The first 10 minutes were cagey, with VPSC having more of the ball, but making a few uncharacteristic mistakes at the back creating number of close calls, the police team again took control but the DSSS keeper was having an outstanding game and saved everything they could throw at him.
DSSS took advantage of the police defenders taking a quick nap on the back line to the first goal of the game. From here the flood gates opened, with both teams trading goals. Following some suspicious refereeing decisions, Andy the central defender lost the plot and gave away a penalty with the accompanying yellow card probably a little lenient!
Into the second half both teams played fantastic football. At was a at busy time for the goalkeepers and was no real surprise when the game finished DSSS 9 – VPSC 7.
Sporting handshakes, a delicious BBQ and cakes, then off to AAMI Park to watch MVFC v Newcastle Jets.
Special thanks to Ron Sinclair for organizing a wonderful day for Doveton Special Soccer School members. It was a really great day.
Special thanks to all the police members who donated their time to play the game, once again on behalf of our club THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
